Counties Manukau District Health Board
Mana Kids School Programme
The Public Health Nurses run a school health programme called Mana Kids. Our school gets 4 hours of a Public Health Nurses’ service, per week. They are at our school every Wednesday where possible.
Children can see the nurse for any of the following:
· Head lice
· Sore throats
· Obesity
· Skin infections
· Scabies
· Anxiety or worries
· Hearing & Vision checks
· Diabetes
· Allergies
· Infected cuts or bites
· Rheumatic Fever
· Hygiene
The Health Nurse can get medication, in particular Antibiotics for Skin Infections/Strep Throat etc., to support your child. This will save you a trip to the doctor and it's free.
The Public Health Nurse is also able to support whānau /parents/caregivers with any health and wellbeing concerns impacting on your child's learning.
They can be contacted on 09-295-1280 or at papakura.publichealthnurses@middlemore.co.nz. Referrals can also be done through the office.
If kaiako/teachers have a concern about your child, they will make contact with you to get your permission for a referral to the Public Health Nurse should you have not indicated so on your child's enrolment information.
