Year 7 / 8 Gymnastics
Throughout Term 31 a group of students trained during their lunch hours with the aim of gaining selection into the Papakura Normal School Gymnastics team to compete at the North Counties tournament on 25 August at Counties Gymnastics Centre, Bruce Pulman Park. The standard of gymnastics was so high all students competed with confidence and pride. Each child completed a mat routine, a vault exercise, a beam routine (girls), a single bar routine (boys), parallel bars (boys) and a dive roll.
Results on the day saw many children receive individual achievement certificates. Papakura Normal School Team results were:
Year 7 Boys A - 1st
Year 7 Boys B - 2nd
Year 8 Girls - 3rd
Year 8 Boys A - 1st
Year 8 Boys B - 3rd
Six students were selected to represent North Counties at the Counties Zone Day. We were delighted that all six of these students performed sufficiently well to be selected for the Counties Team that competed at the Auckland Champion of Champions tournament.
