Tramp
On the first day of camp, after settling in and putting our bags away, we were given free time for a while to explore the camp grounds. After some time we were all asked to line up in our group lines ready to head out for the tramp. Groups 1, 2 and 3 stayed at the camp for about half an hour to give the other groups a head start. We were all given time to fill up our drink bottles and get ourselves organized for the tramp.
We finally began our tramp. The first part of the tramp was easy, mainly because it was slightly up hill. Shortly after though, probably about two meters or so into the bush, it became a bit more challenging. Heading up the track was quite hard for a few people. The tramp is very close to being just about vertical.
During the tramp Mr .Koekoek (the leader) stopped and waited for the people at the back to catch up, which let those of usat the front, have a little break. After walking for 45 minutes most of us were getting really tired but knowing that we were nearly at the top gave us the incentive and the courage to carry on.
At times it felt like the temperature was was blisteringly hot, yet there were still clouds in the sky. It was quite hard especially when you were carrying back packs that seemed much heavier than when we started.
Overall the tramp took us about an hour and a half. When we finally reached the top we had a well-earned break to eat our lunch and enjoy the views. We walked along a fence line which took us back to the main road just above the Port Waikato store and eventually, we made our way back to camp.
On our arrival back at camp we carried on with the rest of our activities.
