Senior School Prizegiving 2007
The Senior School Prizegiving was held at 1pm on Friday 14 December 2007. We were delighted that so many parents, old pupils and friends could join us to celebrate the successes of our students.
Below are the categories in Senior School Prizegiving 2007.
Kapahaka
Our Senior School Kapahaka opened the prizegiving with waiata, poi and haka. What an inspirational and enjoyable performance.
Polynesian Group
Mrs Felicity Auva'a, assisted by Miss Linda Grey, together with the Polynesian Group entertained the audience with Pacific dance and a taste of the East.
Major Prize Winners
The cups and trophies were awarded to their 2007 recipients by the last year's winner.
Class Prizes
Each classroom teacher selects one student (a task that is never easy) to receive the class book award. The teacher selects the book to be awarded and shares with the audience the special qualities each recipient brings to the classroom. Congratulations to our 2007 winners.
Choir and Instrumental
The Senior Choir and Instrumental Group entertained with a number of items. They also assisted the rest of the school with our school songs.
Departing Staff
It was with sadness that we farewelled three staff members: Mrs Rebekah Watts to University study; Vannesa returning to the East Coast to be with family; Miss Linda Grey to Rotorua. We will miss these lovely people and we all wish them well.
School Leaders
Congratulations to our 2007 School Leaders. They have worthy leaders and did a fantastic job leading the prizegiving. Each school leader was presented with a thank you gift by Mrs Morgan.
Other Formalities
Mrs Morgan welcomed our guests; Mrs Shona Paul (Board Chairperson) presented a brief report and wished everyone a happy Christmas; The Year 8's presented the 2007 leavers mural.
