Welcome to 2016

Posted on 21 February 2016

Kia ora students, parents and whanau,

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a warm welcome back to school.  Already this term we have done a lot in Room 9!  We have started up work in our groups in reading, writing and maths, and we have also been learning lots about our school values of Respecting Self, Others and Property.  Can you remember some of the ways we can show our school values?

Room 9 has also enjoyed some swimming lessons this term - thank you for bringing your togs in every day!  A reminder that in odd weeks we swim Tuesday/Thursday, and in even weeks we swim on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Another thank you for making sure that you bring in your sunhats - it is going to be a hot term and it is so important to be sun smart!

Homework has been set up and is going home each week.  Your child should have maths and a topic assignment for the week (such as current events or 'all about me' activities).  Each night your child should also be bringing home a book to read from school in their book bag.  I read and sign the notebook each day during reading and your child is given the opportunity to swap their book over during that time too, if they have completed reading it.  Any questions, just let me know!

Throughout the year in this blog I will be posting about things going on in Room 9, and once we learn how to, you lucky children will also get the chance to post work and blog posts of your own to share with your family.

I am looking forward to seeing as many Room 9 students as possible at the Meet the Teacher night this Tuesday at 6pm, and I hope to meet your parents and whanau as well!

See you in class,

Miss Cronin :)
